Live a life that gives life.

True to yourself, generous to the world

What is the direction of your life?

It's easy to confuse where we want to go with how we are travelling. To get somewhere, you could walk, drive a car, or ride a horse. Earlier in life, you chose the horse, and years passed: you went to school and became good at riding it. Your identity is now that of a rider. People admire you for it, and perhaps your livelihood depends on it. Without noticing, being a horse rider becomes more important than where you wanted to go, so much so that getting off feels impossible.

The Wild School of Liberation Activism is an opportunity to pause and realign our purpose (where we want to go) and our life (where we are going).

Have Untamed and Authentic Relations

In authentic relations, we commit to failing together. We love, laugh, dance, trust. They are not perfect or transparent: we misunderstand, disappoint, hurt and fail each other. We forgive, repair, cry. Sometimes we move on, sometimes we can't. We can be in deep relation when we say no, when we argue, or when we leave. Here at the Wild School, we want to be curious about what is happening between us, and later, if possible, to try to separate what is mine (what I bring), what is yours (what you bring), and what is ours (what we are creating).

Learn the Unteachable Using all our Bodies

A human being is more than just a physical body. We also have a mental body, an emotional body, a social body, and a spiritual body. We are our relationships, our family, our community, the place we come from, the land we live on, our ancestors, and, for some, even God, spirit, or the cosmos. Many schools ask students to use their minds to learn; here, we invite you to use all that you are, across your many bodies, to generate wisdom that can enrich you and others.

Feel the Knots in your Soul to Realign your Purpose

We can live inside a knot for years without seeing its shape; it can become so tight that other ways of living are difficult even to imagine. Knots in our soul can make it hard to understand and act upon our emerging purposes. A knot might hold fear and money together, love and obligation, or work and identity. The Wild School offers room to experiment with these knots. To feel their tension. To see what moves when we touch them. Whether they want to loosen, tighten, or remain just as they are.

Taking Up Your Responsibilities as an Act of Freedom

Freedom is not the absence of limitations, responsibilities or constraints. At the School, we understand freedom as choice. Here, with woods to tend, food to prepare and grass to cut, freedom means to walk towards the responsibilities we choose and invite into our lives. As your time at the School ends, and you work to integrate its learning into your life, we hold the intention that you will transform the wisdom you have generated into your bounded contribution to yourself, others, the world and life itself.
