The Universearound the School

The Wild School belongs to a wider universe that includes an Intentional Community, an Interspiritual Space, Retreats and Gatherings, and a Research Centre. Each has its own character, while people, places and activities move between them.

School

The School brings people together to ask questions, learn with one another, and explore ideas through conversation, movement, reflection and shared practice. Learning moves through kitchens, forests, fields and work, and continues in the everyday lives people return to.

Interspiritual Space

This space is devoted to silence and contemplation, with room for solitude, meditation and sometimes shared chanting or ritual, without requiring any particular belief. Its intended physical home is a simple wooden space among the trees.

Community

The Intentional Community is about living together: supporting each other, having fun, and experimenting with what shared life asks of us. Cooking, caring for the place, sharing responsibilities, finding privacy and working through disagreements are all part of it.

There is room for different forms of commitment, from shorter stays to permanent residence, without expecting everyone to belong in the same way.

Retreats and Gatherings

Retreats and Gatherings bring the School into contact with a wider world through conversation, speakers, music, dance and focused events.

They create space for School-led retreats and encounters hosted by people whose work shares its purposes. September is for our annual festival: music, dance, conversation, and a chance for this wider universe to come together.

Research Centre

We are establishing a Research Centre and are currently in partnership discussions with four higher education institutions across the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

The Centre will study the experiences and practices taking place at the School—from relationships and embodied learning to meditation and contemplation. It will also offer visiting researchers a place to pursue questions of their own.
