The Way of the Mountain

Access a sanctuary to do work aligned with your purpose for one to three months.

The Way of the Mountain offers you time and space to dedicate yourself to something that matters deeply to you. It might be writing a book, creating art, undertaking research, developing a project, or exploring a question you have long wanted to give your attention to.

Before arriving, you are invited to propose your project and explain how you believe it could help you bring your purpose and your life into greater alignment. The School considers your proposal to understand whether the residency can support what you wish to undertake.

While at the School, you are free to pursue your project in your own way. You can also leave for holidays, research, journeys or other experiences connected to your work.

But the Mountain is not a place of isolation. When you are here, you become part of the School's living ecosystem: sharing meals, cooking, cleaning, caring for the land, contributing to everyday responsibilities and participating in the rhythms of the place.

Your project is your own. The life around it is something we create together.

Life at the School

Life at the Wild School follows a shared rhythm, but your days remain largely yours to organise around your project.

When you are here, you contribute to the everyday life of the place. Cooking, cleaning, tending the vegetable garden, caring for the buildings and working on the land are responsibilities we share. Everyone contributes according to their capacities and through arrangements agreed together.

Alongside these ordinary responsibilities, the School offers opportunities for learning, contemplation, movement, creativity, conversation and collective experiences. You are welcome to participate in the activities that interest you, while keeping space for solitude, rest and your own work.

You are also free to leave the School for holidays, research, personal journeys or experiences connected to your project, coordinating your shared responsibilities with others.

The rhythm of the School is not there to organise your life for you, but to invite you into a different way of living: one in which personal freedom and collective responsibility support one another.
